SALINAS, CA (June 27, 2012)—The bariatric surgery center at Natividad Medical Center has been accredited as a American College of Surgeons Level 2 Accredited Bariatric Center facility by the Bariatric Surgery Center Network (BSCN) Accreditation Program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This designation means that Natividad Medical Center has met the essential criteria that ensure it is fully capable of supporting a bariatric surgery care program and that its institutional performance meets the requirements outlined by the ACS BSCNAccreditation Program.

The Board of Supervisors approved in principle for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) to move forward to establish a Public Hospital Authority to take effect following the passage of enabling legislation and approval of a future County Ordinance. This will enable the hospital to pursue reconfiguring its governance, management, business model and services to more effectively transition into a more streamlined integrated health care system offering an array of primary, specialty and acute health care services.

Natividad Medical Center and the Monterey Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross are partnering in honor of CPR Saturday, a regional initiative to offer free CPR training to NMC patients, and Salinas area residents.
The American Red Cross is recognized as the premier provider of First Aid, CPR, Aquatics, Water Safety, and other health and safety education programs. The Monterey Bay Area Chapter will be providing CPR training that will help you stay prepared for virtually any life-threatening situation. Their experienced instructors will deliver training in a consistent manner that encompasses the learning styles of all participants. In the event that the members of your group encounter an emergency at home or on the job, Red Cross training gives them the skills to respond with confidence.
SALINAS, CA – On Friday, February 25th, Natividad Medical Foundation received a $201,000 donation from The Agricultural Leadership Council (TALC).
TALC is a collective of 77 agricultural leaders, including the D’Arrigo, Taylor, Antle, Nunes and many other founding farm families as well as 55 new growers, shippers, packers and other ag-related businesses. John D’Arrigo, President of D’Arrigo Bros. Co. of CA and founder of TALC said, “It’s amazing to see so many competitors come together to act on our shared commitment to helping our farm workers and their families stay healthy.” Together, the 77 members of TALC donated more than $201,000 to NMF for medical equipment, including Monterey County’s only fully wireless rotating bed for patients in the Intensive Care Unit; a special “Panda” to keep babies delivered by Cesarean section warm in the operating room; a headlamp to allow surgeons to work hands-free; and an ultrasound machine to assist healthcare staff with the guided insertion of lines for the provision of fluids, medication and nutrition to patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
