Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides initial assessment and referral services at no cost to employees and their family members, covering a wide variety of work/life problems in areas such as: marital, legal, financial, emotional, stress, substance abuse, grief and loss, work pressures, parent/child conflicts and communication.

Pacific Health Alliance
Pacific Health Alliance (PHA) is the sole dental insurance provider for Monterey County employees. Preventive care is covered at 100%, basic care including, but not limited to fillings. Empower (457 Deferred Comp Program)
A governmental 457(b) deferred compensation plan is a retirement savings plan that allows eligible employees to supplement any existing retirement and pension benefits by saving and investing pre-tax dollars through a voluntary salary contribution. Contributions and any earning on contributions are tax-deferred until money is withdrawn. Distributions are usually taken at retirement when many participants are typically receiving less income, and may be in a lower income tax bracket than while working. Distributions are subject to ordinary income tax.

MetLife
Employees can access the MetLife website to obtain information on numerous subjects of interest regarding estate planning, including trusts, college tuition planning, financial planning and many more.

Vision Service Plan
You’ll get the best care from a Vision Service Plan (VSP) provider, including a WellVision Exam – the most comprehensive exam designed to detect eye and health conditions.

Health Insurance provided By CalPERS
CalPERS is the largest purchaser of public employee health benefits in the state of California, and the second largest public purchaser in the nation after the federal government. Our program provides benefits to more than 1.4 million public employees, retirees and their families. Depending on where you reside, CalPERS offers active employees and retirees one or more types of health plans, which may include:

  • Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)
  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
  • Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) *for members in certain California counties

Flexible Benefit Plan
The better you plan, the more you save! The Flexible Benefit Plan is a real solution to issues facing all of us. Simply stated, by taking advantage of tax laws, the Flexible Benefit Plan works with your benefits to save you money. It offers a unique way to help pay for some health care expenses and dependent care expenses. The key is that your eligible expenses are paid for with tax-free dollars. Contribution amounts may vary yearly and are set forth by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Aflac
We offer a variety of supplemental insurance plans, provided by Aflac and paid for by the employee. Plans offered are life insurance, heart/stroke, disability, etc. These plans are paid on a post-tax basis.
