Chesney Hoagland-Fuchs BSN RN,CDE at Natividad Medical Center Appointed to Diabetes Coalition of California

NMC Diabetes Education/CSUMB Capstone Project to benefit Salinas Adult School

Chesney Hoagland-Fuchs BSN RN,CDE was recently selected to represent Natividad Medical Center on The Diabetes Coalition of California, a state organization (each state has one) funded and supported by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Diabetes Coalition sets the Standards of Care for Diabetes in California, advocates and advises state government on matters regarding diabetes. The Coalition also provides education on diabetes to health care professionals and patients.

Chesney served as Diabetes Education Coordinator for The Texas Diabetes Institute in San Antonio (The Texas Diabetes Council ) prior to her assuming her position at Natividad where she leads the Diabetes Education Program and her successful outreach to teen diabetics.

California State University Monterey Bay Social Work Program has chosen to partner with the Diabetes Education Program at Natividad Medical Center in a CSUMB Capstone Project to provide education to families who participate in the Pre-School and Day Care Programs at The Salinas Adult School Parent Education Center. The educational activities will focus on information about the risk for development of Type 2 Diabetes and specific measures to prevent or delay development of Type 2 Diabetes.
