Natividad Medical Center Press Release - June 5, 2007

Natividad Medical Center Participates in National Hunger Awareness Day June 5th

One in five members of our community go hungry every day.

In the spirit of National Hunger Awareness Day June 5th, Natividad Medical Center's Food Service Department will begin sharing unpurchased cafeteria hot foods left at closing with the local Women's Shelter.

Due to the fluctuating volume of customers from day to day, there are times when foods are left over, which can not be saved to be resold on another day. The food is permitted to be given to the residents of the local shelter as all foods are handled according to the Federal Food Safety Guidelines and will be labeled and dated with a "use by date" which the shelter will monitor.

Cori Thomas, Director of Food Services at Natividad states "We are pleased to share when we can -especially to the women and children at the shelter."

Everyone can participate to end hunger by donating to the local food banks and shelter organizations.
