Jeffrey Bass, MD Appointed Natividad Emergency Department Medical Director

Jeffrey Bass, MD, has accepted the position of Medical Director for the Emergency Department (ED) at Natividad Medical Center. The 19-bed ED provides care to approximately 30,000 patients every year. Dr. Bass is a Partner in California Emergency Physicians (CEP) Medical Group. CEP was founded in 1975 and is a premier provider of physician staffing, management, and consulting services for 56 Emergency Department and Ambulatory Care Practices in California, Oregon, Georgia, and Arizona.

Dr. Bass’ transition to Medical Director is facilitated by the fact that he has served as Natividad Assistant Medical Director for nearly a year alongside its outgoing Medical Director, Dr. Jeffrey Arnold. Dr. Arnold will move on to assume the duties of Medical Director for CEP’s newest ED site at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose.

Dr. Bass earned his medical degree at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed an Internal Medicine residency program at UCLA and practiced in Ventura County before returning for additional training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson where he was named “Chief Resident.” Prior to moving to Salinas, Dr. Bass lived and worked on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and remained in town to work tirelessly during Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. Dr. Bass is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Bass’ goals for the Emergency Department include an increasing emphasis on patient satisfaction.” We want our patients to be seen rapidly and to be given the highest quality, compassionate care. That includes prompt attention to their concerns, rapid pain relief, and focused evaluations with good explanations of their medical problems and how to best care for them. When patients leave our emergency department, I want them to feel that they’ve received the best care that can be found anywhere.”
