Hundreds of dedicated men and women volunteer time and energy to help us meet the needs of patients. The Auxiliary operates a gift shop in the lobby of the Barnet J. Segal Outpatient Services Center. Volunteers help in numerous ways, including assisting visitors around the medical center campus, assembling baby gift bags for new mothers, offering companionship to pediatric and elderly patients and providing clerical and translation services.

Volunteers are assigned according to their interests and skills. Call (831)755-4215 for more information. Use your special skills and talents in a variety of ways...and in many different areas, such as:
 

• Emergency Room
  Compile information packets, comfort waiting patients and direct them to appropriate departments; assist in X-ray and the laboratory.
• Welcome Desk
  Greet visitors and new patients, dispense general information, direct and accompany visitors to their destinations.
• Interpreting
  Act as the "language link" in the Emergency Room, Family Practice Clinic, Pediatrics Department... in fact in all patient areas.
• Medical/Surgical Unit
  Visit with patients and dispense cheer and special help as requested by nursing staff.
• Clerical
  Perform office duties (typing, filing, etc.) in the Administration, Personnel and Business offices, Medical Records, Laboratory, Library and Medical Residency Office and Community Relations.
• Gift Shop
  Stock and sell flowers and gift items; operate our volunteers' fundraising shop.
• Handicrafts
  Create your own special baby layettes, holiday items and other articles for patients (This service may be performed in your home).
• Host Special Events
  Join us in hosting special events at NMC and in the community.
