CHOICE Program

CHOICE, a hospital-linked violence intervention and prevention program at Natividad’s Trauma Center, serves survivors of crime of any age injured by gunshots, stabbings, or assaults/beatings. As the only program of its kind in the tri-county area, CHOICE is in a unique position to help marginalized survivors break the cycle of violence.

Intervention Specialists promote safety and provide intensive case management for up to 12 months following a violent injury, wraparound services, and survivor-driven advocacy, focusing on building trusting relationships and offering emotional support to survivors and their families.

Program staff are bilingual/bicultural, highly trained professionals who are trauma-informed and certified Violence Prevention Professionals (VPP) through The Health Alliance for Violence Prevention national training program.

CHOICE collaborates on community mobilization and violence prevention efforts in the tri-county area, working alongside the City of Salinas’ Community Alliance for Safety and Peace (CASP), among other partners, as well as collaborating with community-based organizations to provide outreach and violence prevention education across Monterey County.
