Adventures by the Sea Donates Bikes to Kids in Prescription Produce Program
- October 8, 2026
Natividad Trauma Surgeon Dr. Thai-Lan Tran took the first step in connecting Natividad with Adventures by the Sea, after a conversation with owners Liz and Kyle Wareham. Driven by generosity, the Warehams wanted to gift new bikes to the hospital, either for an upcoming event or to support patients in need. They assembled the bikes during one of Adventures by the Sea’s signature team-building bike build classes for businesses, then carefully checked and readied them for their next adventure.
“We love being part of the community and impacting children’s lives,” said Kyle.
On a bright Monday morning, Liz and Kyle arrived at the hospital with six gleaming orange-and-black BMX bikes in their pickup truck. During Natividad’s Wednesday farmers’ market, these bikes found happy new owners — six children between the ages of 6 and 10, all enrolled in the Everyone’s Harvest Fresh Rx program. Natividad has partnered with Fresh Rx for years, bringing health and hope to local families.
The Fresh Rx program is an innovative collaboration between healthcare providers and farmers’ markets that focuses on preventive health care, particularly in fighting chronic diseases tied to nutrition insecurity. At Laurel Pediatric Clinic, doctors “prescribe” fresh fruits and vegetables to patients who are at risk for, or already facing, nutrition insecurity and chronic diet-related health conditions. Every Wednesday, families in the program visit Natividad’s farmers’ market and receive $35 in coins to select fresh, healthy produce.
Natividad Medical Foundation also contributed new helmets for each child. Everyone’s Harvest Market Manager Alex Hernandez helped distribute the bikes, making the day a true team effort.
“This is a great example of community partnership and generosity making a real difference,” said Andrea Rosenberg, Natividad’s chief ancillary and support services officer. “We are grateful to Adventures by the Sea and the Natividad Medical Foundation for their wonderful gifts.”
