The Interventional Radiology (IR) Department provides minimally invasive procedures and pre- and post-procedure patient care for inpatient and outpatients of Natividad. The use of multiple imaging methods (such as fluoroscopy, computerized tomography and ultrasound) allows our interventional radiologist to diagnose and treat conditions of the thorax, abdomen, pelvis and extremities. Therapies can include angioplasty, embolization, drainage, stent placement, and thrombus management, among others. The IR Department works in collaboration with the Natividad Trauma team and Surgical Services to provide immediate medical care for patients experiencing traumatic injuries.
Registered nurses of the IR Department provide vascular access assistance to include ultrasound guided peripheral vascular and peripherally inserted central catheter access.
